Welcome to the website of STARS '05!

This is the website of STARS '05, the Study Tour into Asian Research and Science 2005. In April and May 2005, a group of 25 students and two members of the scientific staff of the University of Groningen visited two cities in Asia. These cities were Beijing in China, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Photos of the trip can be found here (Look for the entries starting with "STARS").

The study tour was organized by the foundation Grote Buitenlandse Excursie(s)-Fysisch-Mathematische Faculteitsvereniging (GBE-FMF). The foundation GBE-FMF is tightly linked to the Fysisch-Mathematische Faculteitsvereniging (FMF), a student association for students in Mathematics, Computing Science, (Applied) Physics, Astronomy and Biomedical Technology at the University of Groningen. The main purpose of the foundation GBE-FMF is to organize a study tour for members of the FMF to another continent every two years, in order to learn about foreign research and science. The foundation made it possible for the FMF to arrange study tours to Japan (Nippon '01) and Boston, New York and Mexico City (ManeaX '03).

On May 8th, the study tour STARS '05 ended. It was a great experience, and we've had a very good time. The final report of this great adventure can be downloaded as a pdf file.
