Case information

What is a case study?

To join the GBE, every participant has to a case study. A case study is a project of 120 hours to be performed at a company, after which the company will cover part of your travel costs. It can be seen as a short internship; you might for example work on optimizing a database system, or you go do some practical work in the field. For more examples on what such a case study can be, see the list of previous cases below!

Why do I need to do a case study?

After finishing your case study, the company will cover part of your travel costs. This way we can keep the costs down for the participants, so for you! During the case study you also get relevant working experience in a company, which is always useful.

How to get a case study?

Don't worry, you do not have to do anything yourself. After signing up, the committee will get to work and try to find a case study that fits your wishes and skills. This way we make sure both the participant and the company will get the most out of it. Of course, the selection of a case is still discussed with you; we will never force you to do a case you don't like.

I'm already swamped with projects!

This can very well be the case. Many students that participate in a GBE will already have to do Honours College projects, Bachelor's projects or Master's projects. Then another 120 hours on top of that might seem quite heavy, and we understand. Fortunately, there is the possibility to combine your case study with one of the other projects for your studies! If you're considering doing this, please let us know on the sign-up form so we can get in touch with you about the specifics!
